It all starts with conducting Customer Research

The goal is to learn as much as I can from your existing customers about a need that is unmet, where your current product offering falls short or gaps that need to be filled. To complete this work I conduct interviews, create surveys, observe them doing their tasks, contextual inquiry, and other activities to understand what problem your product will solve for them and how they would use it.

Design Studio – A collaborative brainstorm with stakeholders to help flush out design ideas for a new innovative idea or concept.

Classic Usability Study – I’ll help you design a research study to uncover the problems you need to solve for your product or project. This includes helping you create your recruiting packet, task questions, analyze your data and create a high-level executive report of findings and recommendations.

Field Research – Together we’ll create a research study to collect information (qualitative) and data (quantitative) from your actual customers in their environment. This service includes designing the study, analyzing the data and creating the high-level executive report of findings and recommendations.

Some deliverables which result from this include:

Wireframes or Workflow Diagrams – Early stage design sketches.

High Fidelity Mockups – This is where I skin the wireframe with graphical elements to help your programmers or designers prior to development.

User Persona – Create a clearly defined sketch of who your ideal customer or client is.  I’ll help you understand challenges, what they use to do their job every day, a day in the life and other helpful information.

Storyboarding – Create a visual story of how, when, where and why someone might use your product. Helps create a better understanding of what a user does to complete a specific task or process.

Franka started her career in UX Research and Design in the early 90’s as a member of the Human Factors Group at Compaq Computer Corporation. She’s gone on to successfully work for several other corporations as a UX/UI Designer; such as Hewlett Packard, AIG, and Pason Systems. She’s been in the field testing devices for financial services, manufacturing and in the drilling industry.

One of her assets is that she’s very curious about solving problems and loves the process of researching and finding answers. She’s also a “people person” and has a genuine interest in learning and understanding. She considers herself a researcher with great design skills. She brings more than 24 years of experience in the field and has a drive to see her clients connect with their ideal customers to solve their problems.

Franka earned her Bachelors degree in Sociology and then went on to earn a Masters degree in Counseling because she wanted to understand how the emotional residue of a person’s life impacted how they functioned in business and in life. She’s also a Certified Personal and Executive Coach.
